Hello. My name is PeaceBear, and on 26 March 2003, while the war was still raging, it occurred to me that someone should be thinking of the children in Iraq -- they are the ones who suffer the most under such circumstances.
I thought of gathering together Beanies and other toys to send as a humanitarian gesture to the children of Iraq, when reconstruction begins.
The donations will be sent to a a single location c/o the U.S. Army in Iraq, thanks to MAJ Jim Barker, who will be in charge of their distribution.
Any plush or other toys which do not have or need instructions would be welcome -- board games and similar toys in English would probably not be understood by the children in Iraq. Coloring books and crayons, dolls, paint sets, and non-military diecast cars and other boy things might be good choices -- the simpler and more generic, the better.
Any donations should be in good condition -- tags are not a priority, and any clean toys, even without tags, are acceptable.
